Is the facility accessible?
Yes. There have been renovations done to make it a more accessible area and we continue to work to make it even better. First thing to note is there are no stairs into the building which is a huge barrier removed for anyone facing mobility challenges. The main glass doors may be tight if in a wheelchair as only a single door can open at the moment and this is something we are working on to improve. Upon entering the facility the main floor area is one level and includes a fully accessible washroom.
Where do I go when I get there?
The main entrance into the building is on the parking lot side, through the glass doors. This takes you into the foyer where you will be greeted by someone who can answer any questions you may have.
What should I wear?
Dress on Sunday varies widely depending on the type of person you are and perhaps what generation you grew up in. Most people tend to wear casual dress. Blue jeans, shorts, flip-flops, running shoes are entirely welcome and many currently wear this attire. It's really up to you. Bottom line, wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable, we are just glad you came!
What is worship like?
Expect variety. Because the services are planned by a variety of people and the service leadership and participants change from week to week, no two services will ever be exactly alike. Some will be more traditional, others more contemporary, and most somewhere in-between. All will provide opportunity for you to share in music, scripture, and challenging words of hope, faith, and the love of Jesus Christ.
Communion Sunday (also referred to as The Lord's Supper, Sacrament Service, etc) takes place on the first Sunday of every month. Community of Christ congregations worldwide regularly celebrate the Lord’s Supper as an opportunity to reflect on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It is also a chance to recommit ourselves to following Jesus. Typically all kneel where they are seated facing the alter as a prayer is read over the bread and wine(grape juice). Once done, the minister(s) comes to each person with a cut pieces of bread even gluten free and then again with a wine(grape juice) tray with small individual glasses.
