Our Denomination
Community of Christ is a faith tradition rooted in self-improvement. Small but determined, ours is a story of volunteerism, change, persistence, and a collective yes to a divine call to become a prophetic people. With 250,000 members in more than 60 countries around the world today, Community of Christ has left behind the Americentric ideals of its past, fostering instead a culture of celebrated diversity, healing discernment, democratic processes, empowering inclusiveness, and faithful disagreement.
Experiences in Community of Christ can be varied depending on where you find yourself in Canada. Styles of worship, programming, and theological views are influenced by the culture of the local areas, resulting in rich, unique experiences each and every time.
Opportunities to connect abound with Sunday morning worship services held at each of our 54 congregations, casual meetups located throughout Ontario and British Columbia, year-round camping and retreat programs at our six campgrounds, and regular, interactive virtual ministries streamed via the Internet. Each of these connection opportunities provide support, spiritual growth, comfort, and retreat for members and friends alike.

our congregation
With the vision and initiative of 10 people, the Kitchener congregation was officially organized on September 25, 1953. We met together at a YMCA for 8 years and as our numbers grew the Rosemount Public School became our church home. Five years later, we began the building of our present facility at 414 Fischer Hallman Road, Kitchener. We moved into our new church home by Christmas of that same year. As our numbers continued to grow, the addition of a Fellowship Hall and additional classrooms was completed in 1981.
The well maintained, barrier free facility continues to be a welcoming gathering place for worship, study, social activities and a vibrant “Young Peacemaker” program for children from both church and community. We have been privileged to be able to offer space for church conferences, leadership studies and spiritual formation classes as well as other community interest groups.
It is a joy to witness Community of Christ Kitchener becoming fully alive as we...
With gratitude for the vision, dedicated leadership and ministries of the past, we continue into the future with minds and hearts open to new possibilities for ways to both grow and expand upon, ministries that will bring hope, offer peace and enrich the lives of persons within and beyond the walls of our facility.

- Invigorate individuals through our community barbecue and fun fair each summer as well as provide a unique gathering event for families from both church and community each Christmas.
- Support the work of World Accord through our Change for Change offering.
- Participate each fall in the “Pogo Run” expressing support for families in the community who have children living with Cancer.
- Fill snack bins at a local school and donate to the school’s gift exchange program each Christmas to help bring joy to families who are less fortunate in our community.
- Remain mindful of our community’s need for the Waterloo Region Food Bank and support their work through our potato collection in February and generous donations of food to “Troy’s Cupboard” throughout the year.
- Display compassion for the more vulnerable in our community expressed through our “Socktober” collection of warm socks each winter.
